Pure tone audiometry or say PTA is the key hearing test used to identify hearing threshold levels of an individual. PTA uses both air and bone conduction audiometry. It can easily enable determination of the degree, type and configuration of a hearing loss. PTA is used on adults and children old enough to cooperate with the test procedure as it relies on patient response to pure tone stimuli. PTA only measures thresholds or say behavioural measurement of hearing threshold. PTA benefits other forms of hearing test, like click auditory brainstem response. In order to identify Hearing loss, PTA uses frequency specific pure tone to give place specific responses by providing ear specific thresholds
